BOGSCRUBBERTOILET & BATHROOM CLEANING

KIT DECISIONS

A cleaning caddy for a bathroom with no spare floor

Keep the essentials accessible without building a miniature supermarket beside the toilet.

Take an inventory first

Empty the cleaning cupboard into a safe working area and check the original labels, lids and product condition. Follow disposal instructions for anything you no longer need. Do not decant leftovers into unmarked bottles or combine similar-looking liquids to save space. Write down what you actually use for the bowl, exterior and other bathroom surfaces. A caddy is an organising tool; it should not become an excuse to keep products that have no clear job or readable directions.

Measure the awkward bits

Measure shelf depth, doorway clearance and the tallest bottle, not just the floor area available. A handle can make a caddy much taller than its storage compartment. Think about whether you will carry it up stairs or squeeze it around the pedestal. Check its weight when loaded, and avoid stacking heavy bottles where they can fall. If there are children or pets in the household, accessible bathroom storage may be unsuitable for chemicals; keep products secured as their labels direct.

Separate dry supplies from bowl equipment

Keep spare cloths and gloves clean and separate from a wet bowl brush or used cloths. A removable tray is helpful only if it is compatible with the products and easy to clean. Read material and care information before treating a plastic basket as a spill-proof chemical container. Keep bottles upright with their caps closed. Store cleaners in their original packaging and follow each label’s storage requirements. A narrow shelf beside the toilet is not automatically the safest home for them.

Choose a kit you can maintain

Look for realistic access: can you reach a bottle without removing everything else, wipe the bottom, and see the labels? A large number of compartments is not useful if none fits your own bottles. Buy for the actual contents rather than a staged product picture. Reassess the kit after a few cleaning sessions; anything constantly left outside the caddy probably needs a different place. A compact setup with a clear clean-versus-used boundary is easier to share than an overflowing tub of mystery supplies.
